The Establishment of İZAYDAŞ
The foundation of İZAYDAŞ is closely associated with environmental improvement projects carried out in Kocaeli and around the İzmit Gulf.
During the early 1990s, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality initiated the İzmit Integrated Environmental Project with the objective of addressing environmental pollution and improving environmental management in the region.
As part of this broader initiative, İZAYDAŞ was established in 1996 as an organization of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.
Over the years, the organization expanded its infrastructure and service portfolio, introducing additional facilities and technologies for different categories of waste and environmental services.

• 1996: İZAYDAŞ began operations as part of the İzmit Integrated Environmental Project under Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality.
• 1997: The Regular Landfill Facility was commissioned, followed by the Hazardous Waste Incineration and Energy Generation Facility.
• 2009: The Medical Waste Sterilization Facility became operational.
• 2011: A biogas facility was introduced, while the Environmental Analysis Laboratory obtained TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
• 2012: The Biogas Facility and Landfill Gas Energy Generation Facility became operational.
• 2013: A Hydroelectric Power Plant began operating.
• 2014: The Environmental Analysis Laboratory obtained TS EN ISO/IEC 17043 accreditation as a Proficiency Testing Provider.
• 2016: The Temporary Storage Facility became operational.
• 2018: Marine surface cleaning boats began providing environmental services.

• 2022: The Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) Facility became operational.
