NanoLab | Accredited Food, Environmental, Pharma and GLP Testing

Adnan Kahveci, Çankaya Cd. 10 B, 34528 Beylikdüzü/İstanbul, Türkiye

Founded in Istanbul in 2011, Nanolab Laboratory Group provides extensive accredited testing, inspection, and analytical measurement services. Since its inception, the organization has consistently grown its operational presence across Turkey, establishing branch laboratories in Edirne, Bandırma, Giresun, Çorlu, and Samsun. Operating across 7 locations with a technical staff of approximately 120 professionals, Nanolab holds formal accreditations from the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) alongside official operational permits and certificates from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The group carries out testing across more than 300 product groups with over 300 accredited analytical parameters.

Food and Feed Analytical Services

Nanolab delivers comprehensive safety and compliance testing for the agri-food supply chain, supporting raw material sourcing, processing, and retail distribution. Its food laboratory carries out meat species identification, genetically modified organism (GMO) screening, food adulteration and authenticity testing, and halal compliance verification. Chemical contaminant testing includes high-precision chromatographic screening for pesticide residues, dioxins, mycotoxins, veterinary drug and antibiotic residues, and toxic heavy metals. Specialized testing is available for edible oils, olive oil authenticity, honey quality, dietary supplements, nutritional composition, vitamins, and food additives. Shelf-life determination—via both real-time and accelerated protocols—and sensory evaluations are systematically performed alongside analytical safety verifications for animal feed and premixes.

Packaging and Consumer Goods Testing

Food contact materials and retail consumer merchandise are evaluated against strict regulatory criteria. Packaging testing covers plastic, paper, and board materials through overall migration tests, specific migration evaluations, structural composition identification, sensory taint testing (odor and taste transfer), physical performance characteristics, and screening for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). For consumer items, the facility performs chemical compliance and safety tests in line with REACH and RoHS standards. Product groups tested include textiles, leather goods, footwear, stationery, toys, protective fabric masks, gloves, plastic products, and metal hardware. Technical fluids such as diesel exhaust fluid (AdBlue) and engine antifreezes are also analyzed, alongside UV exposure and weathering resistance evaluations for polymers.

Environmental Monitoring, Water, and Occupational Hygiene

To help industrial clients meet environmental permits and minimize ecological impact, Nanolab conducts emissions, immissions, environmental noise surveys, and regulatory waste evaluations. The environmental laboratory analyzes wastewater, seawater, treatment sludges, industrial wastes, and hazardous residues, supporting initiatives such as Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC). Diagnostic testing for industrial machinery includes used oil condition monitoring across motor oils, hydraulic fluids, compressor oils, turbine lubricants, and greases, as well as burner combustion efficiency measurements. The water testing unit examines drinking water, utility supplies, swimming pools, purified water, hemodialysis process water, cooling circuits, and agricultural irrigation sources. In addition, the organization provides occupational health and safety (OHS) workplace monitoring, surveying occupational hygiene and physical exposure risks.

Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, and Cosmetics

The laboratory group provides specialized microbiological, biological, and analytical testing for healthcare products. For pharmaceuticals, services encompass analytical method development and validation according to ICH Q2 guidelines, nitrosamine impurity quantification, physico-chemical characterization, and testing of pharmaceutical water loops. Nanolab also holds regulatory authorizations for bioanalytical testing in bioavailability and bioequivalence programs. Its medical device evaluation capabilities cover ISO and pharmacopeial standards:

• Sterility testing, bioburden determination, and bacterial endotoxin (LAL) assays
• Residual chemical analysis, including ethylene oxide, detergents, and manufacturing oils
• Biocompatibility evaluations involving in vitro and in vivo testing models
• Packaging performance, accelerated aging, washing validation, and biomechanical testing

In the personal care and biocide sectors, services include antimicrobial preservation efficacy (challenge) testing, stability testing, microbiological assessments, cosmetic claim and ‘free-from’ substantiations, heavy metal testing, and compliance with regional standards such as SASO. Biocidal formulations undergo active substance assays, virucidal and bactericidal efficacy trials, and ozone emission evaluations.

Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Agrochemical Studies

Nanolab provides Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) compliant studies essential for the authorization of plant protection products (PPP), biocides, veterinary pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, and cosmetic ingredients. Agrochemical formulations are tested according to standardized CIPAC methods and OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals:

• Physical and chemical parameters: density (CIPAC MT 3.3), pH determination (CIPAC MT 75), wettability (CIPAC MT 53.3), and suspensibility (CIPAC MT 184)
• Emulsion characteristics (CIPAC MT 36), wet sieve testing (CIPAC MT 185.1), persistent foaming, dustiness (CIPAC MT 171.1), and flowability of granules (CIPAC MT 172.2)
• Accelerated storage stability (CIPAC MT 46.3) to assess chemical degradation and physical integrity
• OECD testing for active substances: UV/Vis absorption spectra (OECD TG 101), vapor pressure (OECD TG 104), water solubility (OECD TG 105), and partition coefficient n-octanol/water (OECD TG 107)
• Mammalian acute toxicity screening via the regulatory ‘six-pack’ package: acute oral toxicity (OECD TG 420/423), acute dermal toxicity (OECD TG 402), acute inhalation toxicity (OECD TG 403), acute dermal irritation/corrosion (OECD TG 404), acute eye irritation/corrosion (OECD TG 405), and skin sensitization (OECD TG 406)
